High Court Criminal Session for Entebbe Magisterial Area.

Nakawa Central High Court started running High Court\r\ncriminal sessions in Entebbe Magisterial area to handle 52 cases in 30 days as\r\na way of reducing on the case back log. The session is for suspects who have\r\nbeen in remand from 2009 to early 2012 over murder, rape, aggravated defilement\r\nand robbery.

While opening the sessions, Nakawa resident\r\nJudge Hon. Justice Wilson Musene Masalu said there are arrangements to hold two\r\nHigh Court sessions starting January 2014.

\r\n\r\n

Nakawa High Court Registrar, Her Worship Gladys\r\nNakibule said the cases that were going to be heard are just a small number of\r\nthe actual case back log; this she blamed on lack of human resource in terms of\r\nJudges. The Registrar emphasized that the Judiciary is still committed to\r\nensuring that every Ugandan gets proper justice despite the challenges.

\r\n\r\n

Among the cases to be heard, 21 are murder cases, 14\r\narmed robbery and the others defilement. The Nakawa High Court sessions will\r\ncover the areas of Makindye, Kira, Mbuya, Bugolobi, Nabweru and districts of\r\nMpigi, Kiboga, Mityana, Wakiso and Mubende.
